Praveena grew up in the regional town of Mackay in Queensland and graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2020.
During her university studies, she developed a keen interest in restorative/cosmetic dentistry, minimally invasive/preventative dentistry and oral surgery. In 2020, she was awarded one of the runners up for the “Australian Dental Graduate of the Year Award” presented by Avenue Dental on the Sunshine Coast.
After graduating, Praveena had the strong desire to return home and look after the dental needs of the Mackay community. She worked at the Mackay Base Hospital Public Dental Clinic and at a family-owned private clinic where she gained valuable experience with all types of patients including those with complex medical histories, vulnerable patients, patients with special needs, children at the School Dental Service and severely dentally anxious patients.
Praveena is extremely passionate about dentistry and she is very excited to start on her new journey serving the patients of Victoria. She loves meeting new people, hearing new stories and loves creating long-term, trusting relationships with patients. Praveena understands that visits to the dentist may seem daunting so she aims to make patients feel relaxed and as comfortable as possible with her gentle approach. By staying up-to-date with the latest technology and research, she aims to provide the highest quality of care and takes time to explain all suitable treatment options tailored to her patient’s specific needs.
When she is not seeing patients, Praveena loves to explore new restaurants and cafes with friends, travel, bake and try new recipes.
